St. Mary's Convent School, Aghwanpur is an unaided minority school, run by the Seva Missionary Sisters of Mary, Chennai which tries to spread God's light in the world, in accordance with its charism "Go and preach you, all Nations". The establishment of St. Mary's was a long cherished dream comes true of two great visionaries: late Msgr. John Kottaram, the Founder of our religious Congregation and Rev. Sr. Jessy P.D, the Former Superior General of our Congregation. Their earnest wish to start a mission station and a school at Aghwanpur found great support in Fr. Mark Lobo and Fr. John Mundel, who helped them to find a suitable plot for the same. The beautiful site near the National Highway was purchased and registered in the name of the Society of the Seva Missionary Sisters of Mary on 22nd December, 2007.
The foundation stone for school building was laid on 20th April, 2008 and Sr. Lucy was appointed as the first Principal of the school. Sr. Mercy K.K and Sr. Clara assisted her. They are the pioneering forerunners of this institution and this campus speaks volumes of the troubles and difficulties that they had to undergo at this initial stage.
The first academic year of the school was inaugurated on 2nd July 2008 with 90 kids and four teachers. At present, the school has been instrumental in molding and inspiring the future of thousands of children who are committed and zealous to design a better tomorrow.
